The freshest locally grown meat and vegetables and the historic charm of Chestnut Square will join together on Friday, June 14 to deliver the first annual Farm to Table Dinner supporting the Historic McKinney Farmers Market.
Executive Chef Andrea Shackelford of Rick's Chophouse and Sauce on the Square has crafted a one-of-a-kind six course dinner highlighting the freshest offerings direct from the farm. The fresh offerings even extend to the signature cocktails offered with the first three courses.
"We wanted to showcase the fresh fruits and vegetables throughout all the courses and the signature cocktails that go with them were a unique way to add an extra twist," said Rick Wells, co-owner of Rick's Chophouse and Sauce on the Square. "We know what a difference fresh from the farm ingredients make in the preparation of great cuisine and we're proud to support the local farmers that make up the Historic McKinney Farmers Market."
The evening will start with an appetizer course served up with cool evening breezes on the expansive porch of the 1916 Dulaney House. Harp music will set the mood for mingling and enjoying the Rehoboth Ranch Glazed Pork Belly, Tom Motley Urban Gardens' Herbs, and Baby Greens. The signature cocktail, The Remington, will include Local Family Farms' Blueberry Infused Vodka, Fresh Lime Juice, Simple Syrup, and Texas Olive Ranch's Blueberry Balsamic Vinegar.
The next five courses will be served in the Chestnut Square courtyard under the canopy of century old trees. Flashpoint, a popular Celtic group that performs at the McKinney Farmers Market, will provide entertainment during dinner. The farmers and vendors who donated the ingredients for each course will make a brief presentation about their farms and products.
"This is an opportunity to meet and share a table with the people who grow the food you buy each week at the McKinney Farmers Markets at Adriatica and Chestnut Square." Said Cindy Johnson, Executive Director of The Heritage Guild of Collin County. "This is eating the old-fashioned way, in a historically charming setting."
