SHERMAN, Texas -- Area youth can take a break from the heat this summer and cool off with SwimTexoma. The seven-week program begins in June and gives participants the opportunity to improve their swimming ability in a fun and competitive environment while also developing teamwork, self-discipline, increased confidence and improved fitness.

SwimTexoma is led by USA Swimming certified coach and nine-year competitive swimming veteran Tim Matthews who recently served as the Assistant Swimming and Diving Coach at Austin College during the 2012-2013 season when twelve school records were set.

SwimTexoma is an affiliate member of the Texas Amateur Athletic Federation and will compete at TAAF swim meets on weekends throughout June and July.

An information and registration meeting is June 8 at Austin College; it begins at 7:00 p.m.

Practices commence on June 10 at AC’s Hannah Natatorium and are held weekdays from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. The program is open to Texas residents who are over the age of five and have the ability to swim one length (25 yards) of the pool.
