As May winds down and the end of school approaches, the Creative Arts Center is gearing up for Summer Camp activities.

Summer Camp is scheduled for June 17-21 and July 15-19. Theatre Camp will be from 10:00 a.m. to noon and Art Camp will be from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. in the afternoon. Each camp is $50.

Toastmasters has offered to teach a module on Extemporaneous Speaking for kids age 14 and older in Theatre Camp. This course will hone audition skills and the ability to speak clearly and with confidence in front of an audience. Younger kids will be taught by Tyler Hamilton, a drama major at the University of North Texas. Tyler will direct a short skit and teach projection and other acting skills.

Art Camp participants in June will learn about photography. Kids of all ages are welcome, and if interest warrants, an additional class will be offered from 3 to 5 PM and the age groups split. Faye Fetters, an award winning young photographer, will direct the June Art Camp.

An exciting addition to the lineup of exhibits this summer is the Sci-Fi/Fantasy/Anime` Exhibit in August. Scheduled to accommodate students, this exhibit will hopefully generate some interest from young local artists who draw and paint in this genre. The opening reception is Friday, August 2 from 5 to 7 PM.  There is more information about the exhibit on the Creative Arts Center website: www.creativeartscenter.us.
