The butterflies are free. For the past month the children attending our story time programs have anxiously watched five caterpillars as they became chrysalides and then beautiful pink lady butterflies.

Last week our preschoolers had the joy of releasing these into the wild. The little ladies were a bit hesitant to leave the cage at first, which might have had something to do with the cluster of preschoolers hovering over the opening, but ultimately one-by-one they took off to the squealing delight of the children.

Recently we conducted a survey of our patrons to find out just what you want for your library services in the future. The results clearly show you want books and more of them. New ones are being added to our collection weekly. Here are a few of the newest titles.
Home Front by Kristin Hannah
Amity & Sorrow by Peggy Riley
Z: a novel of Zelda Fitzgerald by Therese Anne Fowler
Lean In by Sheryl Sandberg
The Rock Hole by Reavis Z. Wortham
Salt, Sugar, Fat by Michael Moss
Hope to see you around the Van Alstyne Public Library.
