Local ham radio club hosting station for Armed Forces Day

SHERMAN, Texas – The Grayson County Amateur Radio Club (GCARC) will be hosting a special event radio station in honor of Armed Forces Day on Saturday, May 18, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Perrin AFB Museum in Denison.

The radio station, identified on the airwaves by the special callsign W5I, will operate on both the 17 meter and 20 meter amateur radio bands. These radio frequencies are capable of communicating with other radio operators both across the country and in many international locations.

The public is invited to visit and watch the station in operation. Local operators (hams) will be on hand to discuss what Amateur Radio is and does, and to answer any questions.

Grayson County Amateur Radio Club (GCARC) is a non-profit organization that promotes Amateur (Ham) Radio use in the Grayson County area.
