The Dodd City Hornets won the first game of their Area baseball playoff Friday night over Dawson, 8-1. The Hornets were led by the strong pitching performance of Landon Liebel, who allowed 4 hits and 2 walks in the complete-game victory. He struck out 6 Dawson batters.
The Hornet offense put together a strong night at the plate, as they tallied 12 hits. The leading hitters were: Mason Stewart, who went 3 for 4 with a double and 3 runs; Clayton Williams, 2 for 3 with an RBI and run; Bryce Graves, 2 for 3, RBI and run; Dalton Underwood, 2 for 2 , 2 RBI and 2 runs; Kyle Turner, 1 for 3 with an RBI and run; and Hunter Brent, 1 for 4 with 2 RBI.
Game two is Saturday at one o'clock at North Forney High School baseball field.
