On May 4, 2013, Fannin County Amateur Radio Club will once again have a presence on the Square during the Heritage Days events. There will be a number amateur radio operators present with their equipment to show the public how much fun radio can be.

The club will set up on the east side of the square. Come by and see what it is like to make a radio contact with people across the country and maybe the world. There will be demonstrations on how to use your computer and smart phone in conjunction with amateur radio to work the world using digital modes of operation.

We will have a member from Grayson County Amateur Radio Club here with equipment to demonstrate how we use amateur radio to locate a downed aircraft or anyone with a radio beacon that is lost. This method of using amateur radio is call “fox hunting” and can be lots of fun just to get a group of friends together for a fun day.

So stop by and let us tell about the joys of amateur radio and how you too can become involved in this great hobby.
