Since Mayfield McCraw and his crew of “engineer-mechanics” managed to adapt and mount the tires the Fannin Rural Rail District found just west of Ft. Worth in Aledo, Texas, the local rail district's high-rail truck has been equipped with a forty-gallon weed-sprayer and has been used from near Old Ector Road to well east of Bonham to prevent and/or control weed growth.
Donated supplies of weed spray have been used to keep the right-of-way relatively clear of quick-growing weeds.

Use of the truck beyond the curve east of Bonham was prohibited by the rails at that curve being slightly out of gauge. But now that David Davis has applied some grease to the insides of the rails, the truck has recently made trips to Bois D’Arc Creek.
Soon Fannin Rural Rail District plans to move the truck to Honey Grove to begin spraying operations there.
Near future plans include mounting a 140-gallon water tank on the truck so that refilling the weed-sprayer will not require returning to a water supply.

In other news, a group of volunteers including H. Compton, David Davis, Wayne Moore, Bobby and Mike Vaught, and others met at the tracks and helped load up scrap metal, which not only made the area look better, but also, when the metal was sold, brought the Fannin Rural Rail District some revenue.
