The Fannin Soil and Water and the USDA-Natural Resources Conservation Service is sponsoring a fishpond seminar on May 3, Friday from 8:00 a.m. until 12 noon with catfish lunch following. Please RSVP as soon as possible by calling the Conservation Office at 903-583-9513 ext 3.
We have a great slate of speakers to answer any questions you might have concerning your ponds.
Larry Hartmann, fisheries Specialist, Sepro Company, will discuss weed control in your ponds.
He will also introduce you to a new product called Phos-Lock for ponds that are overloaded with phosphorous and pea green algae.
Randy Moore, District Conservationist/ Wildlife Biologist, USDA-NRCS will discuss pond construction, (Do’s and Don’ts), drainage areas, where to locate your pond, pond cleanout, pond management and sealing leaky ponds.
Will Moseley Certified Wildlife Biologist, is a Wildlife and Fisheries Consultant with the Noble Foundation and will discuss Fishpond Management. He will cover such topics as; how to grow healthy fish, how to tell if you fish are un-healthy, stocking recommendations and plus much more.
There will be a panel discussion and you will be able to ask questions to help with your individual problems. Bring your problem weeds in a zip –lock baggie and they will be identified and prescription for treatment will be given.
The Fannin Soil and Water Conservation District will serve a catfish lunch after the meeting. There is NO COST for the meal.
1.5 CEU’s will be given for the program.
