The Mary Karam Gallery in Denison, Texas is pleased to announce the Stares and Chairs exhibit of emerging artists Eric Chance Mobbs and Brittany Gammon. 

The first half of the exhibit, “Stares,” pertains to Oklahoma-based artist Eric Chance Mobbs' dreamy portrait representations of the varying states of memory of the people in his daily life.  He draws upon a broad color palette and uses heavy textures to push and pull the subject matter into the viewers' plane of experience.

The second half of the exhibition, “Chairs,” deals with Oklahoma-based Choctaw Native artist Brittany Gammon's Impressionistic style still lifes of exactly what the name implies, chairs.  Whether they are made of wood, metal, or textile, the chairs are each painted on canvas with heavy textures and vibrant colors to give an evocative portrayal of one of civilization's unsung heroes.

Consisting of almost thirty paintings, the collaboration of “Stares and Chairs” is one of a mutual appreciation for textural painting techniques, complex color combinations, and a common, yet emotional subject matter.

Mobbs and Gammon have exhibited locally in Oklahoma and both regularly contribute to Texoma's many art shows, events, and competitions.  Students of SOSU, Mobbs and Gammon have been under the tutelage of artists Jack Ousey, Dr. Gleny Beach and Dr. Donna Finch Adams.  Mobbs and Gammon both plan to attend graduate programs to continue their Art degrees.  The exhibit is available for viewing from now until May 4, 2013.
