DURANT, OKLAHOMA  – On Thursday, June 7, Choctaw Casino Resort is hosting the multi-talented country singer-songwriter Clint Black at CenterStage, located one hour north of Dallas at 4216 S. Hwy 69/75, in Durant, Oklahoma. Growing up surrounded by music, the Texas-native Clint Black had an early interest in various genres of music. By the time he was 15 years old, Black taught himself to play the harmonica, guitar and started writing his own music, eventually leading to a small family band with his older brothers.

Black realized he wanted to pursue his dreams as a solo performer and soon after dropped out of high school. Black collaborated with co-writer Hayden Nicholas to pen several songs for a demo, which attracted the attention of ZZ Top’s manager Bill Ham.

In 1989, Black signed with RCA Records and released his critically acclaimed debut album Killing Time. Black’s first major record label album was a commercial success producing four straight No.1 singles on the U.S. Billboard Hot Country Singles & Tracks chart, including “A Better Man,” “Killing Time,” “Nobody’s Home,” and “Walking Away.”

The album was an immediate fan favorite and became a triple-platinum success selling more than two million copies. It launched Black’s career andpositioned himas one of the best up-and-coming male vocalist in the industry. The album garnered Black several awards including Country Music Association’s Horizon Award, Best New Vocalist, the NASI Songwriter/Artist of the Year, and two Best Male Vocalist awards.

In 1990, Black had similar success with his follow-up album Put Yourself in My Shoes, which spawned four Top 10 hits, topped the country charts at No.2 and the pop album charts at Top 20. After several hits charted from his second album, in 1991, Black was honorably inducted into the Grand Ole Opry.

In addition to his second successful album, Black released a string of hit albums from 1992 to 2004, including The Hard Way, No Time to Kill, One Emotion, and Nothin’ but the Taillights.

Over the course of Black’s successful career, he has produced nine studio albums, several compilations, amassed more than 30 singles, 13 No.1 singles, sold more than 12 million records worldwide, and has co-wrote a majority of his own songs. Black has also made many cameo appearances on television and in movies.
