Gamma Beta chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma, a professional organization for women educators, celebrated its 75th year of existence by continuing its local community outreach to the children and families at The Samaritan Inn.

Each year Gamma Beta chooses a major project to provide educational and personal support for the homeless families at The Samaritan Inn.  This year Gamma Beta chapter collected over 75 books for the children, ages infant to seventeen, in order to promote reading.  Along with the books, each child will receive a teddy bear to help provide sweet dreams, a hand-sewn pillowcase made from delightful children’s fabrics, and a new pillow.

The Samaritan Inn serves homeless families from Collin County.  Sometimes these children have never had a new book to treasure.  Reading not only provides educational growth but also helps these families have closer bonds as they move through difficult times.  Anyone wanting to help these children may donate a scholarship for a child to attend summer camp ($300), or donate money to fund child care for the preschool children so mom or dad can look for work ($200), or for tutoring to help with school work ($50).  Contact The Samaritan Inn at (972) 542-5302 or www.thesamaritaninn.org/ for more information.
