The Bonham Public Library invites you to enjoy an evening of ocean exploration with Dr. Michael Durbin, Fannin County resident and communications engineer for oceanographic expeditions.

Dr. Durbin works with Dr. Robert Ballard, who discovered the wreck of the Titanic in 1985, on expeditions ranging from the Galapagos to the Black Sea, from the Lost City of the Atlantic to the return to the Titanic. In each instance, Dr. Durbin has tabulated the power and antennas needed for satellite communications.

Dr. Durbin received his undergraduate degree from Texas A&M and his Ph.D. from the University of Texas at Dallas. He is currently a telecommunications engineer for MCI in Dallas, providing satellite and terrestrial interconnect from exploration ships to the University of Rhode Island. He is also very involved with Dr. Ballard on the Jason Project.

The program begins at 7 p.m., Monday, May 14 at the Bonham Public Library, 305 E. 5th Street, Bonham. It is free and open to the public. If you love watching the Discovery, History, and National Geographic channels, then this is the program for you.
