Winners of Fannin County Children’s Center Art Contest announced

Winners of the Fannin County Children’s Center’s Youth Art Contest were announced at the non-profit agency’s open house recently.  Bjorn Peterson won first place and took home a ribbon and a $100 VISA gift card.  Peterson is a 13-year-old eighth grader in Trenton.

Second place honors went to eight-year-old Cade Bowser from Bonham.  Bowser is a second grader who won a $50 VISA gift card for his drawing.

The winning drawings have been reproduced on to cards that the Children’s Center will use in their spring fundraising efforts.  Prizes were sponsored by Dr. Jim and Valerie Tarpley. 

The Children’s Center operates several programs for abused and neglected children, including CASA, the Children’s Advocacy Center (CAC) and prevention programs for children, youth and adults. 

CASA recruits and trains volunteers to be advocates for children in foster care. 

The CAC coordinates the efforts of public and private agencies involved in the investigation, prosecution and treatment of child abuse.
