Ravenna -- On Saturday, May 19, 2012, beginning at 10 a.m., the First Annual Jack Phillips Bluebird Festival will be held in downtown Ravenna, in memory of Jack Phillips who spent most of his lifetime promoting, feeding, building birdhouses, and much more for the benefit of eastern bluebirds.
Scheduled events include live music, bluebird and other wildlife photo contests, bluebird house building, local venders, and
lots of great activities for children.
Jack was guest speaker for many of the area organizations to promote interest in bluebirds and would take birdhouses he had made to the meetings to give to those attending. Over 2,500 of bluebird houses seen on fence posts throughout Fannin County sporting the JP brand were made by Jack Phillips.
