Texas A&M University-Commerce enrollment up 2.94 percent

Commerce, TEXAS (Feb. 21, 2012)—Spring semester enrollment for Texas A&M University-Commerce has increased by 2.94 percent, reaching an all-time high of 10,965 for the spring term. In addition to the increased headcount in classes, more students are taking higher numbers of credit hours, raising the percentage by 6.12 percent for the university. Since 2009, Texas A&M University-Commerce has experienced a 22 percent increase in enrollment.

“I am very pleased with the efforts of our Texas A&M University-Commerce team,” said Dr. Mary Hendrix, vice-president for student access and success. “Despite the new state regulations for documentation of the bacterial meningitis vaccination for new students and these difficult economic times, our team focused on each individual student to achieve these results.”

A&M-Commerce is one of eleven universities in The Texas A&M University System. Texas A&M University also saw a higher enrollment figure with a record of 46,717 students as of the 12th class day. While most enrollment increases are seen in the fall semesters after high school graduations, it is most impressive for universities to be able to bring in new students in the middle of the academic year, a task the A&M System is quickly mastering.
