DWI Arrest - February 11, 1200 Block N. Center St. Arresting Officer Ptl. Cory Brookshire. During routine patrol, Ptl. Brookshire observed a vehicle going 42 in a 30 mile per hour zone. A traffic stop was initiated due to the violation. Contact was made with the driver who was identified as Gary Lorance Jr. While speaking to Lorance, the officer detected a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage emitting from Lorance's breath. The officer asked Lorance if he had consumed any alcoholic beverages and Lorance advised "a few". Lorance was asked to step to the rear of his vehicle and he had to use the vehicle for support while getting out and walking to the rear. Ptl Brookshire asked Lorance to submit to Standard Field Sobriety Tasks and he agreed. Lorance failed to successfully complete the tasks and was asked to submit a sample of his breath, to which he agreed. Lorance was placed under arrest and charged with Driving While Intoxicated.

Assault Arrest - February 12, 800 Block S. 4th St. Arresting Officer Cpl. Rick Burns. A call for service was received in reference to a disturbance. Upon officers arrival they made contact with the suspect, Thomas Fuller. Fuller advised he had been in a verbal altercation with his wife and had torn stuff up at his residence and threw a brick through his in-laws window. Officers then made contact with the victim. The victim advised she had been in an argument with Fuller and he picked up a stick and threatened to strike her with it. The victim’s daughter tried to get Fuller to calm down and Fuller then threatened to strike her with the stick as well. The victims advised Fuller then went next door and threw a brick through his in-laws window. Fuller was placed under arrest and charged with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon (Family Violence) and Criminal Mischief >$50 <$500.
