SHERMAN, TEXAS—The charter bus transporting the Austin College men’s and women’s basketball teams became smoky and eventually caught fire en route to DFW Airport to travel to competitions at Colorado College. The team members have been examined and cleared by medical personnel.

All, with the exception of one student, have boarded a second bus and are continuing the trip. That athlete, whose family has been notified, is not traveling as a precautionary measure due to the smoky air.

The owner of the bus and Austin College staff were on the scene to manage the situation. A complete review of the bus and situation will be conducted.
