Beginning in the fall of 2012, Bonham will bid adeu to Celina, Commerce and Van Alstyne and get ready to rumble with Melissa, Princeton, Nevada-Community and Anna as UIL's bi-annual realignment reshapes districts.

Celina moves over to District 10-3A, while Commerce and Van Alstyne drop down to compete in District 6-2A.

Bonham athletic director and head football coach Dale Trompler had most of these changes mapped out ahead of time.

"I made a pretty good guess going into it," Coach Trompler remarked.  "I had predicted the exact district but thought we might also get Farmersville (who dropped to 2A).  Getting put in a five-team district provides some challenges in scheduling pre-district games.  The week 5 date has to basically be someone that also has a five-team district.  With our particular district we will have some familiarity with those teams.  Melissa, coming off a state championship in 2A, was a team we scrimmaged and I expect they will be solid again.  Princeton was a playoff team from their previous district that played Van Alstyne twice last year (regular season and playoffs).  We saw their regular season game.  Anna and Community were both on our schedule last year.  So, we have seen three of the teams in competition and one on film.  That is always a benefit to have some idea of what they have in terms of their teams.  It is, however, a benefit for them as well.  Anna will have a new coach and will more than likely look a little different in terms of schemes.  Our focus is, and will continue to be, to build on our program.  I do like the close proximity of the teams in our district and the ease of travel that it provides.  I look forward to the new challenges that realignment brings."
