Commerce, Texas -- The valentines hang from the ceiling and lights sparkle around the perimeter of the dance floor. Excitement builds as the annual Daddy-Daughter Dance at the Northeast Texas Children’s Museum draws near.

This year a special large heart graces the entry to the dance floor. A new disco ball adds to the special dance atmosphere.

“My daughters are excited about the Daddy-Daughter Dance,” said Lisa Arnold, the event’s chairperson. “And I am really excited to be a part of bringing this special evening to other young girls in the area.”

One young girl stood mesmerized by the reflection of her shimmering dress in the Bubble Room at the last Daddy-Daughter Dance.

The Thalians, a local volunteer-minded group, provide food for the participants. Little girls and their escorts always work up an appetite during the event.

In addition to dancing on the dance floor, WiiTM provides another type of dance. Crafts include making Valentine cards and bookmarks. After a photo with their escort, a girl may have her face painted.

Saturday, February 4 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. marks the event. Purchase tickets by calling the Northeast Texas Children’s Museum at (903) 886-6055. Tickets are $30 but will be $35 on the day of the event.

Louise Biggs will be one of the people to apply face paint after the photo of girls and their escorts at the upcoming Daddy-Daughter Dance.
