In a tough battle on the road, the Dodd City Lady Hornets dropped a close one to the Savoy Lady Cardinals. The Lady Cards came out of the first quarter with a 12-7 lead, but the Lady Hornets came back in the second to close the gap to 3 with a 21-18 score at halftime.
Both teams came out strong in the third with Savoy keeping the lead 37-33. The fourth quarter turned into a defensive battle with the Lady Hornets outscoring the Lady Cards 4-2. The Lady Hornets had a chance at the buzzer to take the lead but fell short in a hard fought game 39-37.
Briann Hilliard had another great night scoring 10 points in the first half and finishing with 16 points and 10 rebounds. Jenna Wallace added 7 points, Christi Petty and Katelynn Woodlee each had 5 points and Keeshia Thompson had 4 points.
The Lady Hornets can seal a place in the playoffs with a win Friday night vs. Fannindel.
