Bonham -- In front of a boisterous hometown crowd in Leonard A. Gerner Gymnasium Tuesday night, the Bonham Warriors improved to 5-0 in District 10-3A with an exciting three-point win over the Commerce Tigers.

Commerce jumped out to a 9-2 lead, but Bonham’s Dra Smith hit two free throws after a technical foul on Commerce, Koltin Kinkade canned a three-pointer, Smith picked Commerce’s pocket for a steal that resulted in a basket and a free throw and Greg Moses got inside for a lay-up that put the Warriors on top, 12-11, at the first buzzer.

Led by Smith, Kinkade and Moses, plus four points off the bench by Garrett Simpson, Bonham had a 31-21 lead at halftime.

Commerce closed the gap in the third period, however Smith knocked down a triple and had a key block to help the Warriors hold on to a 46-41 lead going into the fourth quarter.

The Tigers only trailed 57-56 with one minute left to play, but the final two point of the contest were free throws by Smith as the Warriors picked up their second district win over Commerce, 59-56.

Dra Smith led Bonham with 21 points, Koltin Kinkade finished with 14 points, Jacob Kemp contributed 11 points, D.C. Porter put up eight points, Garrett Simpson scored four and Clay Parsons netted a free throw.

Buck Wilson led Commerce with 21 points, Jackson finished with 15 Pannell Put in 10, Simmons scored six Chastain chipped in three points and Relford hit a free throw.
