Honey Grove, Texas -- Buster Collins, 70, longtime resident of Honey Grove, Texas passed away Saturday, January 28, 2012 at Red River Regional Hospital in Bonham, Texas.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, January 31, 2012 at the First Baptist Church in Honey Grove, Texas. Rev. Kenneth Yates will preside and Mr. C. Emery Banker will give a eulogy. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Honey Grove.

Pallbearers will be Mark Collins, Lanny Dee Collins, Jr., Doug Stroud, Darren Pevey, Brad Nelms, Mark O’Dea and Courtney Hevron.  

Honorary pallbearers will be Larry Dobbs, Charles Neeley, George Thurman, Bill Thurman, Kenneth Edelhauser, Mac O’Dea and Bubba Hulett.

The family will receive friends 7 to 8 p.m. Monday, January 30, 2012 at Cooper-Sorrells Funeral Home in Honey Grove, TX.

Weldon Dale Collins was born July 16, 1941 in Honey Grove, Texas to parents, Weldon Landrum and Anna Myrtle (Barnett) Collins. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Lanny Dee Collins.

Buster was a member of First Baptist Church in Honey Grove for many years and he had been employed at the family owned Piggly Wiggly store in Honey Grove for several years as manager. He also had various other jobs through the years and he would eventually retire from Texas Tag in Wolfe City, Texas. He was a Honey Grove High School graduate and after graduation he attended Paris Junior College for a period of time. He served his country in the Texas National Guard in Honey Grove.

He is survived by daughter, Valerie Banker and Husband, Bill of Honey Grove; Son, Doug Collins and Wife, Kim of Honey Grove; Sister, Deanna Collins and Brother, Chris Collins both of Honey Grove. Four grandchildren, Garrett Banker, Chase Banker and Wife, Val, and Lance Collins all of Honey Grove, and Chase Taylor of Lannius. Three Great Grandchildren, Brady Banker, Tate Banker and Mason Banker. Nephews, Mark Collins and Wife, Pam, Lanny Dee Collins, Jr. and Wife, Kathy. Several great nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.
