Honey Grove -- Honey Grove's Chanda Foster finished with a game-high 15 points to help her Lady Warriors improve to 8-1 in District 17-A with a 48-29 win over the Trenton Lady Tigers.

Honey Grove grabbed a 10-3 lead and looked poised to put this one away early, but Trenton's Christina Acklin came through with a solid block to ignite her team. The Lady Tigers turned to Cessna Reed and the senior post responded with back-to-back buckets and teammate Ally Murphy drained a three-point shot to tie the score 10-10 at the end of the first quarter.

Honey Grove's Elizabeth Johnson scored on a breakaway, however Trenton pulled even when Murphy followed her own miss with a basket.

Kylie Burnett nailed a triple for the Lady Warriors and Murphy returned the favor with a three-pointer for the Lady Tigers. Trenton would briefly take an 18-17 lead on a lay-up by Reed before Honey Grove jumped back on top with a jumper by Johnson and lay-ups by Foster and Jamie Wilson.

The Lady Warriors were up 23-19 at the half.

Honey Grove's Desiray Finney hit two free throws and Burnett drove the baseline for a bucket to stretch the lead to 27-19 as the second half got underway.

Trenton went back inside to Reed for two points, but the Lady Tigers found themselves in trouble when Reed picked up three quick fouls and headed to the bench with four personal fouls.

Honey Grove led 36-27 going into the fourth quarter.  Foster hit back-to-back baskets as the Lady Warriors began distancing the Lady Tigers. Karah Beavers hit four free throws in the closing minutes and Allyiah Daniels dropped in a lay-up to give Honey Grove a 48-29 victory.

Honey Grove's Chanda Foster led all scorers with 15 points, Kennedy Burnett knocked down nine points, Elizabeth Johnson put up eight points, Tanner Reitzer and Karah Beavers both finished with five points, with Jamie Wilson, Desiray Finney and Allyiah Daniels all chipping in two points apiece.

Ally Murphy paced the Trenton offense with 13 points, Cessna Reed scored eight, Pearl Walls finished with five points, Christina Acklin tossed in two points and Alexis Zastoupil hit a free throw.

The Honey Grove Lady Warriors (14-9, 8-1) will travel to Wolfe City Tuesday.
