Paris -- Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) reports that construction on Lamar Avenue from 33rd Street to 42nd street will began today.  This work is scheduled to last one week.

This work will include milling up the surface pavement and placing a new surface on Lamar Avenue. If everything goes as planned and the weather cooperates, this work on Lamar Avenue should be complete by February 4, 2012.

The traffic control will include temporary lane and ramp closures. Lane closures will be necessary in order to remove and replace the driving surface. TxDOT urges the traveling public to take extra caution and observe warning signs during construction of this project.

People traveling along Lamar Avenue and Loop 286 need to slow down and be aware of construction activity.  There will be pavement drop-offs along Lamar Avenue as well as the need to stop traffic for short durations.

The purpose for this project is to improve the safety and mobility as well as to improve the pavement structure.
