Red River Unitarian Universalist Church will hear Dr. Brooks Flippen speak about "America's Approach to Environmental Politics" at 11:15 a.m. on January 22. Dr. Flippen is Professor of History at Southeastern Oklahoma State University in Durant and lives in McKinney.
Dr. Brooks has written three books about historical figures, including most recently Jimmy Carter, the Politics of Family and the Rise of the Religious Right. He has commented on environmental politics for National Public Radio and has spoken at the Nixon Presidential Library in California.
At 10:00 that morning, Adult Forum will discuss the book SUM: Forty Tales from the Afterlives, in which acclaimed neuroscientist David Eagleman offers imagined tales of what might happen in an afterlife.
At 3:00 p.m. that day, RRUU will host singer, acoustic guitarist and composer Jim Scott in concert. Scott is well known in UU circles, having written several songs promoting the UU ideals of ecology, justice and peace. All events take place at 515 Burnett Ave. in Denison, and everyone is welcome.
