SHERMAN, TEXAS —The fourth annual Austin College Public Administration Symposium will be held from 11 a.m. to 5:15 p.m. on Thursday, November 10, in the Wright Campus Center. This year’s theme will be “The Public Administration Profession and The Future of North Texas: Transportation, Economic Development, and Environmental Sustainability.”
The event is free to the public. Please register in advance by calling Dr. Frank Rohmer at 903.813.2493 no later than Tuesday, November 8.
Chad Edwards, director of transportation programming for the North Central Texas Council on Governments, will deliver the keynote address. He will speak on the need to address both economic development and environmental sustainability in transportation planning.
Other speakers include: Ted Benavides, former city manager of the city of Dallas and a professor of public affairs at the University of Texas at Dallas; Dr. Robert Bland, director of the Masters of Public Administration program at the University of North Texas; Dan Johnson, the deputy city manager of the city of Richardson and an Austin College alumnus; Praveen Maghelel, professor of public administration at the University of North Texas; Debra Humphreys, a transportation planner with Texoma Council Of Governments (TCOG); David Morgan, assistant city manager of the city of Richardson and an Austin College alumnus; and E.A. Hoppe, assistant director of City Services for Richardson and Austin College alumnus.
The event is inspired by the contributions of the late Dr. John D. Moseley to the fields of public policy and public administration. The symposium is sponsored by the Hatton W. Sumners Foundation, the Austin College Student Assembly, and the Austin College Pre-Law Society.
