The McKinney Boyd Broncos scored 24 unanswered points in a pivotal second period to break open a close game and defeat the McKinney High School Lions, 38-28.
These teams were all knotted up at 7-7 at the first buzzer before McKinney Boyd unleashed the scoring barrage that boosted the Broncos to a 31-7 advantage at intermission.
McKinney Boyd would go on to add a solo touchdown in the third period that pushed their lead to 38-7 going into the fourth quarter.
The Lions roared back into the contest, courtesy of three touchdown passes by Robert Somborn, with Quentin Casner hauling in a pair of TDs in a very busy period that saw the Lions whittle their deficit down to 10 points before time ran out on the rally.
Somborn passed for four TDs, but suffered six interceptions.
