"Georgia On My Mind."

"Ain't Misbehavin'."

"As the Saints Go Marching In."

The songs don't need an introduction.

Neither does the Bois d'Arc Dixieland Band - just ask anyone who has seen this seven-man band leave their unique imprint on an impressive list of classics -- "Bye, Bye, Blackbird" comes to mind -- and gospel favorites such as "Just a Closer Walk With Thee."

The crowd at Woodmoore Assisted Living Community in Bonham had the unique pleasure of listening to the newest line-up of Bois d'Arc Dixieland Band when Greenville, Texas pianist Joe Knight performed with the band for the first time July 2.

Bois d'Arc Dixieland Band was the brainchild of J. Russell Armstrong.  While on vacation in Florida, Armstrong had been impressed by a talented six-man Dixieland band.

On Saturday, July 2 it was a polished seven-man Dixieland band entertaining the crowd at The Woodmoore Assisted Living in Bonham as Bois d'Arc Dixieland Band improvised and dazzled throughout a set of crowd pleasers.

Bois d'Arc Dixieland Band is comprised on Ben Scarborough (bass) of Yantis, Texas; Dick Eckstein (trombone) of Mt. Pleasant; Dr. Jim Deaton (clarinet) of Commerce; Russell Armstrong (tenor banjo) of Commerce, Dr. Bob Deuell (lifelong drummer better known as State Senator Bob Deuell) of Greenville; Eugene LaBeaux of Richardson; and joining the band for the first time on Saturday was pianist Joe Knight of Greenville.
