After an impressive opening week victory at Callisburg, the Bonham JV Warriors welcomed Emory Rains to Warrior Stadium on Thursday.  Looking for a 2-0 start to the 2010 season, the Warriors showed signs early in the game that they intended to pick up right where they left off a week ago.

Bonham took the opening kickoff and set up shop at their own 20 yard line.  A 5-yard TD pass from QB Dra Smith to Tristan Hunt capped an 80-yard drive to give Bonham the early lead.  After the PAT by Juan Green, Bonham's lead was 7-0 with 6:00 remaining in the first quarter.

As in week one, the Warrior defense continued to swarm to the ball throughout the game, quickly putting their offense back on the field.  With 1:30 left in the opening quarter, a 5-yard run by Justin Lawrence finished off a 55 yard drive and the PAT to follow.  Green's kick was good, extending the lead to 14-0.

Emory Rains' offense opened the second quarter with a strike of their own from 41 yards, to cut the Bonham lead in half, 14-7.  Dra Smith answered on the ensuing drive with a 60 yard TD run to push the lead back to 14.  Bonham led 21-7 following Green's kick and took the lead into the locker room at half time.

The Warrior defense, led by Brandon Austin, Mikey Dobbels, Ryan Onesto and Jacob Olsen, kept the Wildcats offense on the sideline for most of the second half.  As the Warrior ground game worked the clock in the 3rd quarter, Tristan Hunt carried the ball down to the 5 yard line to set up another TD run by Lawrence with :49 left in the quarter.  Green's kick was successful once again, and Bonham's lead was extended to 28-7.

Justin Haggard broke free up the middle in the fourth quarter for a 40 yard gain to set up his offensive unit deep in Wildcats territory.  The drive stalled as the Warriors turned the ball over on downs at the 7 yard line as time was running down.  Bonham's JV Warriors improved their record to 2-0 and will host Quinlan Ford next Thursday at Warrior Stadium.
