At the meeting called to discuss the wrap-up of the 4th Annual Bonham Heritage Day, participants agreed that the increased work load and coordination effort to put on an event such as Heritage Day called for the establishment of a non-profit corporation to manage, finance, and stage events and celebrations in Bonham.
First, as required by law, an initial group of directors with previous experience was asked to serve. These included Judy Teller, Jean Craige, Glenn Taylor, Emily Porter, and Tommy Thornton. When asked, Jean Craige declined to serve and left the meeting. Judy Teller, Glenn Taylor, Emily Porter, and Tommy Thornton accepted and voted to ask Pat Hilliard to serve. He later accepted.

Second, the directors adopted a mission statement, which reads: “The purpose of the Corporation is to celebrate the rich cultural and historical heritage of Bonham and
The directors then reviewed a proposed set of bylaws, which they adopted with some minor revisions.
As required under the adopted bylaws, the directors elected a slate of officers to direct events and celebrations in Bonham for 2011. These include Judy Teller (President), Glenn Taylor (Vice-President), Emily Porter (Secretary), Bert Simpson (Treasurer), and Price Bradshaw (Parliamentarian).

As an early decision concerning the date for Bonham Heritage Day is mandatory to meet deadlines for publicity and advertising releases for next year, the directors present briefly discussed the date for Bonham Heritage Day in 2011.
After some deliberation, the group decided that the Heritage Day Celebration will still be on the fourth Saturday in July, but the lawn mower races and garden tractor pull events are tentatively scheduled for the first weekend in October.
