SHERMAN, Texas – The Austin College volleyball team kicked off the 2010 campaign with a convincing 3-0 victory over the University of Texas-Tyler on Wednesday night in Hughey Gymnasium. The ’Roos improve to 1-0 on the year with the win.
The ’Roos took the match by scores of 25-19, 25-13, 25-15 behind the strong play of Jessi Fleming and Jordan Anderton. Fleming finished the match with 10 kills and four blocks, while Anderton led the way with 30 assists. Jenna Wilson also had a strong outing, finishing with nine kills and 14 digs and Quinn McKee added a team-best 15 digs in the match.
Austin College heads to Danville, Virginia this weekend to compete at the Averett University Tournament beginning on Saturday, September 4.
