District IV 4-H ULTRA Leadership

Fannin 4-H was well represented at the District IV 4-H camp, Ultra this year. Thirteen Fannin County 4-H youth attended District IV Extreme Leadership camp where they learned about what makes a leader, how to be a leader, had their District elections and had a little fun, 4-H style!

Ultra is a leadership camp designed to teach 4-Hers different skills via project areas of their choice. Some of the projects were horse, culinary arts, outdoor activities and more. The camp also encourages more social interaction between counties and helps to forge friendships that last.

Each year at leadership camp, elections are held for district offices.
All the candidates who run for office give their speeches and elections are held.

The Fannin 4-H Council President, Micala Michaud, was elected to the position of District IV 4-H 1st Vice President. This qualified her to represent District IV 4-H and Fannin County 4-H on Texas State 4-H Council.

Micala will be installed and honored at the State Fair of Texas honoree banquet, September 25, 2010.

This leadership camp is designed for more.  The first day there is an
orientation, group activities and then they break out into project
sessions. That evening there is dinner, a dance and bedtime. The next morning each group went on a field trip then came back for more
sessions.

On the last day of camp, we had a banquet to wrap up the camp, and the theater arts group gave a presentation of 3 skits they had worked on together. The new district officers were installed by the old, and there were a few tears shed over the graduating 4-H members who
would be leaving the 4-H program.

After the banquet, we packed up our things and said our goodbyes with many hugs and trading of Facebook pages, numbers and email addresses. It was a great learning experience for all who went and most will go back next year.
