Chief Deputy Kirk McMurrey reports that on 8/24/2010, as part of an ongoing environmental investigation, the Fannin County Sheriff’s Office executed a search and seizure warrant at 5519 FM 100.  With the assistance of the SPCA, Deputies seized 5 adult dogs, 3 puppies, and a cat.  The animals were kept in violation of the Cruelty to Animals Statute due to the poor conditions of housing, shelter, and available water.

The animals were removed from the property pending a hearing regarding their welfare.  Subsequent to the property hearing, the animals were awarded to the SPCA.

Chief Deputy McMurrey advises that the investigation is pending and charges may be forthcoming.
