The Bonham Rotarians met for their weekly meeting on Wednesday, August 25.  Charles Butler’s program was Tom Turner, the General Manager of The Fannin County Leader, the new newspaper in Fannin County.

Turner spoke about the importance of a locally owned and operated publication in Fannin County.  He recollected his many experiences in the newspaper business, as well as what he has learned.

His main objective in getting back into  the paper business is to ensure the improvement and well-being of Fannin County.

“By starting The Fannin County Leader, we not only provided a dependable print media for advertisers and readers, we also created jobs for seven local individuals who had been let go by a corporation,” stated Turner.  “These key people have joined their expertise back together with me to produce the best printed publication Fannin County has ever had... and those aren’t my words, those are the words of our readers!”

Turner continued stating that his staff will be working to publish a product of which all Fannin County can be proud.

In Turner’s eyes, there are many issues over the past few years that have not received the media attention that they needed.  These included the Fannin County Multipurpose Complex which is completely debt free, the reservoir that will be built, and many others.

Turner pledged to utilize The Leader to get information to the citizens of Fannin County as well as provide a platform for readers to voice their opinions.  By accomplishing those goals, the publication will be the perfect media tool for effective marketing to all of Fannin County.

The Leader reaches every home, every week in Fannin County.  Turner reiterated that they print and distribute over 15,000 copies each week in order to meet these numbers.

The Bonham Rotary Club meets every Wednesday at noon at the Family Life Center in Bonham.
