McKINNEY, Texas (8.18.10)— Shop for a Cause is Macy's national charity shopping day that offers the opportunity for local nonprofit organizations to raise funds in their communities. Since 2006, Shop for a Cause has helped raise more than $34 million for thousands of charity partners.  This year the North Texas History Center will participate in the national event.  Ticket sales began August 18 and continue through early October.

NTHC will sell the $5 tickets and keep 100% of the proceeds from every ticket they sell. Customers purchasing tickets benefit by receiving incredible storewide shopping savings all day on October 16, 2010.  Macy's will also host special events, prizes and other in-store excitement for the shopping event.

“We are grateful that Macy’s has given us the opportunity to partner with them,” said Vicki Day, NTHC’s executive director. “This is a fun way for us to give our members and visitors the opportunity to save money at Macy’s while also raising money for the History Center.”

To purchase your Shop for a Cause ticket stop by NTHC Wednesday through Saturday 11am-4pm beginning August 18th.  Tickets cost $5 each and 100% of the purchase price supports operations at the History Center.
