If you have a low income and are currently living in inadequate housing, you may qualify for Fannin County Habitat’s homeownership program.

Habitat has three basic requirements: your current housing must be inadequate, you must have the ability to pay for a Habitat house, and you must be willing to partner with Habitat. Qualified applicants will have the opportunity to be a part of our exciting Homebuyers Program. If you are ready for the adventure of living in a brand new home call our office today at 903-640-1439 or visit us online at www.fanninhabita.org.

So how does a family become a Habitat family? It usually begins with an inquiry to the Habitat office. From there, interested parties meet with the Family Selection Committee to fill out our application. Partner families are selected using three criteria:

INCOME: To be eligible for a Habitat home, your income should fall between the low and high numbers for a family your size:

FAMILY SIZE    MAKE AT LEAST        BUT NO MORE THAN

            1                          $11,088.00                       $22,176.00

            2                          $12,672.00                       $25.344.00

            3                         $15,681.60                        $28,512.00

            4                          $15,840.00                       $31,680.00

            5                          $17,107.20                       $34,214.40

            6                          $18,374.40                       $36,748.80

            7                          $19,641.60                       $39,283.20

            8                          $20,908.80                       $41817.60

ABILITY TO PAY: habitat’s partner families must show stable source of income, demonstrated ability to make regular payments and the absence of excessive collections items or judgments and liens.

PARTNERING WITH HABITAT: Families must be willing to provide sweat equity on other Habitat opportunities as well as on their own home. They are also required to attend and participate in monthly Family Support Homeowners’ Education workshops on financing, budgeting and home maintenance.  This process will take about a year then you will select your lot location and floor plan!

Volunteers—alongside—homeowners—build Habitat homes, using donated funds and materials. The houses are then sold to the partner families on a 20-year, interest-free mortgage, at no profit for Habitat for Humanity.

Families meeting these requirements are encouraged to call our office immediately for more information. Applications will be taken until September 30. Call today!  903-640-1439
