Bonham, Texas -- Memorial services for Mr. John Thomas Birdwell, age 83, of Bonham, will be held at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, August 12, 2010 at the First Baptist Church, Bonham, Texas, under the direction of Wise Funeral Home. Rev. Morgan Malone will officiate.  Mr. Birdwell passed away early Monday, August 9, 2010 at Texas Health Presbyterian WNJ Hospital in Sherman. 

John was born Feb. 25, 1927 in Randolph, Texas, the son of Wesley Lee Birdwell and Eva Hill Birdwell.  He served his country in the US Navy for 2 years, and then went to work as a home builder.  He was the former owner of Birdwell Reel Corporation and had been a business owner in Bonham for 60 years.  John was a member of First Baptist Church.  He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers, Olen Birdwell, Raymond Birdwell and Weldon Birdwell, a sister, Ruby Jackson, and a son, J. T. Birdwell. 

Surviving are ~

Daughter:  Linda Birdwell of Bonham

Son:  Charles Birdwell of Bonham

Daughter-in-law:  Nancy Birdwell of Denton

Grandchildren:  Rebecca Birdwell, April Terry, Cristina Miller, John Bachman, Justin Bachman, and Chelsea Birdwell

12 great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins
