Bonham, Texas -- Funeral services for Garland Keith “Snuffy” Smith, 55, of Bonham, will be held at 10:00 AM Thursday, Aug. 5, 2010 at First Baptist Church multipurpose facility in Bonham under the direction of Wise Funeral Home.  Rev. Morgan Malone, Rev. W. C. “Bill” Beasley and Bro. Ronnie Ball will officiate.  Burial will follow in Willow Wild Cemetery.  Snuffy passed away Sunday night, Aug. 1, 2010 at Wilson N. Jones Medical Center in Sherman. 

Snuffy was born September 3, 1954 in Childress, Texas, the son of Aubrey Thomas “Tom” Smith and Leona M, “Lee” Smith.  He was a graduate of Bonham High School, the first graduating class in the new High School.  Snuffy and his wife, Gidgette Harris Smith were married for 13 years.  

An avid horseman, Snuffy had broken, ridden, and trained horses and mules since the age of 11.  He had a great gift and  was passionate about his trade.  Snuffy was a collector of personal and horse memorabilia.  He was a talented craftsman of leather and wood work.  Snuffy had a loyal and faithful companion in his dog, Thibideaux.  He was a member of First Baptist Church in Bonham and had recently renewed his commitment. 

Snuffy was preceded in death by his father in 2007 and an infant son, Dillon Smith in 1979.

Wife:  Gidgette Smith of Bonham

Son:  William Thomas “Will” Smith and wife, Sarah of Bonham

Stepson:  Dylan McCarley of Trenton

Mother:  Lee Smith of Bonham

Sister:  Kathy Good and husband, Jerry of Honey Grove

Grandson:  Andrew Thomas Smith

Nephew:  Major Matt Good, USMC and wife, Julie of El Paso

Niece:  Melanie Atkinson and husband, Cody of Little Elm

Great niece and nephews:  Meagan, Chandler, Jacob, Chad and Josiah

A host of friends. 

Pallbearers will be Robert Chaney, Mike Peal, Max Jones, Keith Weaver, Dan Foster and Billy Stroud.  Honorary pallbearer will be Ronny Welch.

The family will receive friends at Wise Funeral Home from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Wednesday night.
