CHEYENNE, Wyo. ---July 25, 2010--- One year ago, Wesley Silcox let the Cheyenne Frontier Days bull riding championship get away from him when he didn’t stay on his final bull for eight seconds.

He qualified for the finals in 11th place and while it was deep, he did have an opportunity with a good bull.

“I just fell off,” Silcox said. “I’ve been to this rodeo and qualified for the finals several times. Last year was probably the best chance I had. Hopefully it will work out better this year. “

Silcox, from Santaquin, Utah,  has scores of 85 and 81 here and is one of two men that have two successful rides. Silcox is followed by Matt Pojanowski from Woodville, Wis. They have total scores of 166 and 161.

“I had two really good bulls here this year,” Silcox, the 2007 Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association world champion added.

He like many of the competitors here has been extremely busy for the month of July. He hasn’t had a day off all month, so was leaving Cheyenne, going home and spending a few days fishing. Then, he has a rodeo in Utah, and will be back at the “Daddy” for the finals on Aug. 1.

The third performance of the rodeo will see a brand new set of cowboys. The barrel racers will be making their first appearance. The rodeo starts at 1 p.m.
