Bonham, TX July 13, 2010 -- First Presbyterian Church and First United Methodist Church are co-hosting Vacation Bible School this summer. This VBS program will begin on Sunday, July 18 and run through Thursday, July 22. It will be held from 5:30 – 7:30pm and will meet at the Family Life Center in Bonham (at 8th Street and Star St). A meal will be served at the beginning of each meeting. This year’s VBS is entitled, “ReNew” and focuses on our stewardship of God’s creation.
Grounded in Jesus' Parable of the Sower, ReNew brings together the Bible and environmental stewardship. From tiny towns to huge cities, kids grow in faith as they play, learn, sing, and work toward renewing their congregations and communities. By serving in the community and inviting the community into church, kids demonstrate that being green can be easy, faithful, and fun. Although current threats to our environment can seem scary, ReNew is about hope, opportunity, and service. Kids and congregations lead the way as stewards of the earth.
This will be a fun and exciting opportunity for children to experience hands-on involvement related to caring for God’s creation and being good stewards of our resources. Singing, arts and crafts and other activities will be a part of this curriculum as well as working on a community garden and planting trees at our respective churches.
All children ages 6 – 12 are invited to attend, regardless of church membership. Registration will take place on Sunday at 5:30. If you can’t make it Sunday, you’re welcome to join us for the other evenings.
