Students in middle school through high school can hone their musical skills in two choir camps offered this summer through the University of North Texas’ acclaimed College of Music. The UNT All-State Choir Camp for ninth- through 12th-graders — now in its fifth year — will be held July 14 – 17 on the UNT campus in Denton. The camp’s principal   clinician is Mr. Bob Chilcott, a highly respected composer and a former member of the British singing group, King's Singers. The camp’s purpose is to help high school students prepare for the Texas All-State Choir auditions.  Registration ranges from $145 to $290. Application deadline is June 28. Applications also are being accepted for the Middle School/Junior High Honor Choir Camp held July 21 – 24 at UNT. This marks the first year UNT offers a choir camp designed for incoming seventh- and eighth-graders — making it the only such camp in the Metroplex and only the second in the state. The camp features nationally recognized clinicians Alan McClung, director of the Cambiata Institute of America, and Rebecca Reames of the Crane School of Music in Potsdam, N.Y. Registration ranges from $155 to $285. Application deadline is July 7.  The camp also includes a Middle School/Junior High Teacher Training Program.
