Dodd City -- Although it is the middle of summer, it was a very busy day at Dodd City ISD Saturday with the annual Dodd City Lions Club BBQ and School Reunion attracting a large crowd.

The Dodd City Lions Club has earned a reputation for turning out great BBQ and then turning the proceeds into great community projects.  Dodd City Lions helped with the finance and construction of the city hall/community center, bought playground equipment for the school, bought and helped install street signs and house numbers, given away thousands of dollars worth of college scholarships to Dodd City High School seniors and paid for eye exams and bought eyeglasses for local children in need.

Established in 1975, the Dodd City Lions Club had two charter members, Johnny Hilliard and Don Kinkade, working hard at the BBQ.

Dodd City Lions have their next community project in the planning stage.  Their goal is to replace the current downtown pavilion with a durable metal structure that can be used by area residents for reunions, garage sales and meetings.
