CASPER, Wyo. --- The 62nd annual College National Finals Rodeo (CNFR) is winding down and students are either packing to go home or getting ready for Saturday night’s final round.

Moving into the lead in the bareback riding on Friday night was Ty Breuer from Central Wyoming College. Breuer has a total of 236.5 points on three head. He is eight points ahead of the man in second place, Kyle Brennecke, from Missouri Valley College.

Winn Ratliff from McNeese State University won the third round of bareback riding with an 82-point ride on Sutton Rodeo’s horse named Disco Stick. That ride also moved him into the top 12, so the senior will be riding for his first national championship as well.

In the steer wrestling, Jake Woolstenhulme from Utah Valley University took the lead in the third round with a 3.8-second run on Friday. That moved the  senior education major into ninth place and he will be staying in Casper for one more night.

All-around cowgirls Nikki Steffes and Jordan Muncy-Taton are atop the leader boards in the women’s events. Steffes from the University of Wyoming competed in three events here but will just be in the goat tying on Saturday. Muncy took the lead in breakaway roping during the first performance. The Panhandle State University also leads the barrel racing after a 14.36-second run on Friday night. She has a total time of 43.64 seconds. Second place is the 2009 national champion, Rachel Tiedeman from South Dakota State University with 43.66 seconds.

The bull riding champion will most likely be decided by the highest total on three rides instead of four on Saturday. There are eight contestants that have qualified on two bulls with the remaining four spots being filled by high scores on one. Tag Elliott from the College of Southern Idaho is in first with 168.5 points.

The final performance of the rodeo begins at the Casper Events Center on Saturday at 7 p.m.
