In celebration of Earth Day, Tom Bean Elementary School students took on a poster contest challenge. Each class was asked to use, or recycle, only supplies in their classroom to make the poster.
The posters were then judged by Mrs. Cathy Harris’s Environmental Science class from the High School on Earth Day to select the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners.
We wanted to emphasize taking care of our planet. Everyone still needs to do their part to eliminate waste and pollution in our small part of the world. So in an effort to remind students to try to be good global citizens, we wanted to challenge students to use the theme “Reduce, Reuse and Recycle.”
We may not ever get to the point where we do not print on paper, do not use plastic bottles or other wasteful habits, but we need to be aware of the impact we make on our environment.
Our first place winner was Mrs. Griffin’s 1st grade class
2nd place went to Mrs. Wanda Johnson’s class
3rd place went to Mrs. Shires’ 5th grade class
