My name is Carroll Burgoon, watercolor artist in Blue Ridge, Texas. I am creating 27 watercolor paintings for a veteran-related inspirational art book that I plan to self-publish. This is a work in progress. I need people in uniform that I can photograph so I can paint accurately and make my images come to life.
I want to fairly represent Latinos, Hispanics, African Americans, Asians, and Native Americans, men and women from Army, Navy, Marines, Air Force, Special Forces, plus, Reserves, Coast Guard, WACS, Merchant Marine and National Guard. If you qualify or know someone who does I need to hear from you pronto.
I will give priority to decorated and disabled veterans, and to vets in leadership in business and government. Acceptable documentation must be presented to be considered.
If you end up featured in one of my paintings, you will receive Artist Proof #1 of the painting, personally autographed.
If you have a family member, employee, friend, or a boss who is a proud veteran from any war, or who is recently honorably discharged, or home on leave, or who you’ll be greeting at DFW Airport, and who might get a big kick out of being in a painting, let me know, please.
Ten of the paintings are based on music by a singer/songwriter friend of mine: “Someone Like You,” “Not Just a Name on a Wall,” “It’s Gonna Be Alright,” Trouble’s Comin’ to Town,” “What I Wouldn’t Give,” “This Is Where Jesus Would Go,” “Thank God for the AMVETS,” “Song for My Brother,” “Freedom’s Moon,” etc.

"Trouble’s Comin’ to Town." Song about a small-town boy who always stood up for what was right, came alongside the weak against bullies, unwavering deep conviction and strong values. You definitely didn’t want to come up against him. After 9-11, he did what came naturally and enlisted. He could hit an antelope at 1,200 yds. So, he became a sniper with countless confirmed hits before a cowardly IED got him.
Also, if you know of an upcoming wedding with a military saber ceremony in North Texas this spring, I’d like to show up to snap a few photographs for one of the paintings.
Also, if you can get me up in the bucket of a rural electric co-op truck to photograph someone in a hard hat working on a transformer, that would be fantastic! Obviously there’s a lot of variety of subject material in the paintings.
My goal is to help alleviate the pain and suffering many endure after the loss of a loved one. I hope and pray my art brings peace, joy, and inspiration to countless people. Thank you for your help!

"What I Wouldn’t Give." Song about a 96-year-old war bride. Married at age 17. Now, sitting in rocking chair at Christmas, alone, holding stained, old photo of dashing young sailor who shipped out and was KIA within weeks. She never remarried. He is in background, like an angel, looking on as she softly whispers, “What I wouldn’t give to feel his touch one more time, to kiss him one more time...”
