Funeral services were held at 1:00 pm Friday, May 21, 2010 at Calvary Baptist Church in Wolfe City with Bro. Monte Weaver and Bro. James Seigler officiating. Burial was in Mount Carmel Cemetery.
Pallbearers were: Butch Samples, Stanley Samples, Chris Samples, David Dawson, Gene Dawson, Paul Ray Sanders, and Allan Malone. Honorary pallbearers were David Griffith and Jerry Pack.
Born August 13, 1947, in Fort Sill, Oklahoma, he was the son of Marvin James and Vivian Samples Ebert. He married Linda Sue Robinson on September 5, 1969, in Wolfe City.
Mr. Ebert was a veteran and served in the U.S. Army from 1966-1968. He retired from Ne-Tex Cooperative Oil Mill and was a member and deacon of Calvary Baptist Church.
Mr. Ebert was serving as Alderman for the City Council of Wolfe City at the time of his death. He worked on the building program for the construction of the new building at Calvary Baptist Church. He was supervisor and worked countless hours as a volunteer for the Wolfe City Lake Project. He enjoyed helping others and gave many hours working as a volunteer for many other Wolfe City projects. He was chosen Wolfe City Chamber of Commerce Citizen of the Year for 2005.
Surviving are his wife, Linda Sue Ebert, two sons and daughters-in-law: Bryan and Amy Ebert and Jason and Madeline Ebert, all of Wolfe City; a great-nephew, Damen Wilson of Wolfe City; four aunts: Linda Johnson of Greenville, Texas, Wanda Whitlock of Dallas, Texas, Christine Norman of Durant, Oklahoma, and Margaret Kelley of Bryant, Arkansas; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A son, James Ray Ebert Jr., a brother, Richard Martin, and his parents preceded him in death.
R.W. Owens & Son Funeral Home of Wolfe City, Texas were in charge of arrangements.
