The Trenton Lady Tigers had no apprehensions today against Muenster. To start off the day for the Lady Tigers, Marla Frazier hit an in-the-park home run. They didn't stop there. Trenton scored three runs in the third inning, one run in the fourth, seven runs in the fifth, six runs in the 6th, and held Muenster to win the game 18-4. Marla wasn't the only home run for the day. Mandi Hamilton hit an in-the-park grand slam in the sixth, as did Kayla Jenkins.
On defense, the Lady Tigers were just as focused with freshman Nikki Welch on the mound. The Lady Tigers went 3-up-and-3-down for the first three innings. Two base hits and a couple of walks by Muenster put them on the board, but it wasn't enough to faze the Trenton Lady Tigers. Each inning up to bat they answered back with hits, and it was too much for Muenster to handle.
"I always tell them that hitting is the bonus...that they have to play great defense because defense is what wins ball games," remarked Trenton head coach Amy Littrell. "Today, they got their bonuses.
We are looking more solid everyday, and its a relief. I know this team can be a consistent, competitive ball club. My struggle has been getting them to believe in themselves. Games like today make me see more and more that they are believing in themselves and their teammates."
