McKinney City Council seeks citizen input on the direction of the arts center
McKINNEY, TEXAS (March 16, 2010) – McKinney City Council is wrapping up a process set in motion to review the future use of the McKinney Performing Arts Center (MPAC). The final public input meeting will be held this Thursday, March 18, at 5:30 p.m. in the Ruschhaupt Room at MPAC.
The public will have a chance to give feedback on three proposed scenarios. The first focuses solely on the arts, using MPAC only as a performance and arts-based facility. The second looks to increase use by maximizing activity within MPAC, generating more participation and attendance. The third will expand operations with redefined objectives, creating a community and arts center by increasing day time and weekday use and making the building more accessible to the general public. All three have plans to reduce the operational deficit of the center.

This third public input session comes after a forum hosted by the McKinney Arts Commission (MAC) and a town hall meeting hosted by the Mayor and City Council. The MAC, which serves as the advisory board to City Council about city funds designated for promoting or sustaining the arts, will also host this forum.
Anyone unable to attend the meeting will have the opportunity to submit written feedback online by visiting www.mckinneyperformingartscenter.org, and the Web site also has details about the three proposed scenarios.
Comments and public response from the meetings and online will all be considered for the final recommendations that will be presented to City Council.
