Sam Rayburn Lady Rebels finish second in Howe Softball Tournament

The Sam Rayburn Lady Rebels placed second in the Howe Tournament after losing to Denison in the finals 7-3. 
 
Maddison Foreman reached base on an error and was scored by a hit to right field from Maddie Dow to tie the score 1-1.  Denison came back and scored a run in the 2nd and 3rd, but Kaleigh Titsworth lead off with a single over the short stops head.  Maddie Dow and Jaiden Pelton both laid down beautiful bunts which loaded the bases. 

Cassidy Hall hit a fielder's choice to third base which caused a forced out at home.  Avery Cranford hit a single to center which scored Dow now making the score 3-2 Denison.  Denison scored 3 more runs in the 6th and one in the 7th, but the Lady Rebels never gave up.

Sydney Davis led off the 7th with a triple to center.  Ali Wiechman hit a hard ball to short that scored Davis, but unfortunately, the Lady Rebels were unable to walk away with the victory.  Cassidy Hall went 5 1/3 innings, striking out 7 and walking 2.  Sydney Davis came in as relief and struck out 1 and walked 1.
 
Earlier on Saturday in tournament play, the Lady Rebels defeated Van Alstyne in the semi-finals 17-1.  Jaiden Pelton was 3 for 4 with 2 HOME RUNS and 5 RBIs.  Kaleigh Titsworth was 4 for 4 with one double and 3 RBIs.  Maddie Dow was 4 for 4 with a double and a triple and 3 RBIs.  Cassidy Hall was 4 for 4 with 2 RBIs.  Maddison Foreman was 3 for 4 with 1 RBI and Avery Cranford was 3 for 4 with 1 RBI.  Sydney Davis was 2 for 3 with a triple.  Cranford faced 14 batters, striking out 5 and walking 1.


 
On Friday, the Rebels faced Anna and won 7-3.  Maddie Dow hit a GRAND SLAM in the 5th to help her teammates out!  The game ended on a double play ball hit to Kissinger at short.  She fielded the ball clean, threw the ball to Titsworth for the out, who then threw it on to Cranford at 1st who stretched out in the splits to get the 3rd out!
 
Earlier on Friday, the Rebels faced S&S and won 9-6.  The game was tied till the third when Pelton reached base on an error and stole 2nd.  Cranford hit a double that scored Pelton.  Hall hit a single that scored Cranford.  S&S answered back by scoring 2 runs, but the Lady Rebels rallied Kissinger reached base on an error, then moved around on a walk to Cranford.  Hall hit a single to score Kissinger.  Davis reached base on a fielder choice, then a hard hit ball to short by Torri Pannell scored both Cranford and Hall.
 
On Thursday the Lady Rebels defeated Saint Jo 23 - 0 and Denison 2-1
 
The Lady Rebels will host Sulphur Bluff at 5:30 on Tuesday.
